A Hidden Gem Marin Family Photography Location
I had the pleasure of shooting this adorable family in Nicasio, which is a wonderful hidden gem for Marin family photography. The forested rolling hills, larger than life trees, and perfect weather made this shoot seem like they were on a movie set! I also did this shoot during the golden hour (the hour before sunset) which makes the hills look truly golden and green. The soft light of sunset gave the family members a glow around them which is just so sweet in the photographs!
The daughters are aged 5-9 and were so lovely to work with. Capturing the growing bond of these three girls was a delight! They enjoyed exploring and seeing a new place, even though they said they drive past the location all the time. I’m sure they will look back at these photos with fondness when they get older. There was a little hike up to this particular spot, but it felt more like a nature walk. Even the 5-year-old was able to keep up with her sisters. I couldn’t believe they had never been to this spot before!

Make a day of your family photography session! Marin County is known for having plentiful outdoor locations to shoot a family photography session at, a number of delicious restaurants, and cute things to do in downtown areas for after. For this location in Nicasio, I recommend Two Bird Cafe in Woodacre for its charming ambiance and delicious home-style food. Or if you are looking for a more of an old school West Marin vibe, I recommend Rancho Nicasio. Rancho Nicasio also makes for a great wedding venue!
