Roots in Colorado, Growth In California
Tamara and Matthew coincidently grew up in Colorado but met in college while attending UC Berkley. The world has a funny way of bringing people together, doesn’t it? They are going to have their wedding back in their home state with their family and friends at a picturesque mountain venue, so they wanted to have their engagement shoot outdoors. What better place than in a forest?
Cloudy With A Chance of a Redwood Regional Park Engagement Shoot
I had about a million locations that came to mind, (okay not really a million, but I had a lot) and we all eventually decided that a Redwood Regional Park engagement shoot would be the most ideal location. The enormous redwoods with their branches reaching into the clouds, the sunlight cascading soft beams of light through the trees, and the stillness of the forest created the perfect engagement shoot opportunities. It was a touch cloudy out, but I think the clouds worked to our benefit.
The lighting was soft and cozy as Tamara and Matthew posed for pictures throughout the various locations of the park. When it’s clear skies the sunsets are something worth venturing to see. Despite the cloud coverage, the sunset wound up having a cotton candy effect which was so beautiful and perfect for a silhouette shot. I felt like we were transported into a different realm, but nope we were in Oakland! Another great aspect of having a Redwood Regional Park engagement shoot is that it’s easily accessible, and not a lot of hiking is required to get some magical photos. Sometimes it’s about working smarter, not harder.
I wish Tamara and Matthew the happiest of wedding days, and can’t wait to hear about their epic mountain wedding back home! It was an absolute delight to shoot their Redwood Regional Park engagement photos!
