Amy Thompson Photography — Family & Wedding Photography

These terms apply to family, portrait, and wedding photography sessions booked through Amy Thompson Photography ("Photographer"). Booking a session means you ("Client") agree to the terms below.

Booking & Retainer

A signed contract and non-refundable retainer are required to reserve your date. Your date isn't officially held until both are received. The remaining balance is due per the schedule in your contract — typically before or on the day of your session, and no later than a set number of days before a wedding.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Retainers are non-refundable, since your date is held exclusively for you and other inquiries are turned away. If plans change, notify me as early as possible — for portrait sessions, we'll find a new date within a reasonable window; for weddings, rescheduling is subject to availability and may involve a rescheduling fee if the new date requires reworking other commitments. Cancellations within 14 days of a portrait session or 60 days of a wedding forfeit any payments made to that point.

Weather & Circumstances Beyond Control

For outdoor sessions, weather calls will be made together as the date approaches, and rescheduling due to weather is handled without penalty. Delays or changes caused by illness, family emergencies, venue issues, or other circumstances beyond reasonable control will be handled in good faith, with the goal of finding a workable solution for everyone involved.

Image Delivery

Edited galleries are typically delivered within the timeframe stated in your contract. Wedding galleries generally take longer than portrait sessions given the volume of images involved — your specific timeline will be in your agreement. A sneak peek of a few images is often shared sooner.

Print & Product Release

Clients receive a print release with their gallery, granting permission to print and share images for personal use. This release does not transfer copyright — Amy Thompson Photography retains ownership of all images. Reproduction for commercial purposes, publication, or resale is not permitted without written consent.

Image Culling & Selection

Not every frame taken is delivered. Images are professionally culled and edited to reflect a cohesive, high-quality final gallery. Requests for additional unedited or rejected images are not guaranteed and may not be honored, consistent with standard industry practice.

Model Release & Portfolio Use

By booking, Client grants Amy Thompson Photography permission to use images from the session for portfolio, website, and social media purposes, unless the Client requests otherwise in writing prior to or shortly after the session. This is especially respected for wedding clients who prefer privacy.

Liability

Amy Thompson Photography carries reasonable care and backup equipment to every session, but in the rare event that a shoot cannot be completed or images are unrecoverable due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, liability is limited to a refund of fees paid for that specific session. Amy Thompson Photography is not responsible for missed shots due to schedule changes, guest interference, or venue restrictions outside the Photographer's control.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining terms will stay in full effect.

Entire Agreement

These terms, together with your signed session or wedding contract, make up the entire agreement between Client and Photographer for the services described, and supersede any prior discussions or proposals not reflected in the signed contract.

Changes

These terms may be updated periodically; the version in effect at the time of your signed contract governs your booking.
